What happens when a logging boss turned governor, turned presidential chief of staff retires back to New Hampshire? Well, if the man in question is Sherman Adams, he builds a ski resort in eight months. After his stint in national politics, Adams returned home to New Hampshire convinced that there must be a mountain somewhere near Lincoln worth skiing. He started exploring via snowshoe, and eventually stumbled upon the mountain where Loon now stands. That can-do attitude has been consistent throughout Loon’s history as they’ve grown and expanded over the years. Now Loon has 12 chairlifts, 61 runs, and over 2,000 vertical feet of skiing. And it does a great job of encapsulating the east coast ski scene. Multiple great terrain parks appease the jibers, while steep gladed runs cater to expert skiers and consistent groomers help intermediates build their skills.
