M-Tone Guitars are extremely High-End, Unique, one of a kind, Luthier built creations. They are all designed and hand-built entirely by Matt Proctor of Portland Oregon. 
This incredible instrument won us over right out of its case. It plays, feels and sounds as rich and articulate as anything we've ever played and makes some very pricey vintage pieces seem inadequate in comparison. It really delivers tonally and playability wise. After hearing and experiencing this meticulous build and perfectly setup piece it’ll be hard to put down.
The Bocote neck looks and feels very similar to Rosewood with its beautiful figure, it also has a slightly snappier tone while still being a darker neck tone wood falling somewhere between Maple and Mahogany. It blends uniquely well with the brighter sounding streaked/ Macassar-Ebony board which feels like butter beneath your fingers. The neck has some nice shoulder to it  and is a Med C size, with depth measurments of .83-.94. A semi-holllow Honduran mahogany body with a beautiful Flame Maple top are light in weight and resonant these are some of the most well thought out tone-woods on a guitar we've seen in some time.
This is the first M-Tone Flight Risk to feature both a Semi-Hollow body and a tortoise bound top. This build also features a one piece M-tone steel bolt-through bridge, for full resonance of the strings working with the body to create a piano-like, natural sustain.
The pickups are a perfect fit, they are Lollar Broiler Single Coils and are based on the original "Toaster' design found on old Rickenbacker Guitars, but with a modern output with added girth and harmonics.
The neck position is very articulate and ethereal with wonderful airy cleans and the driven tones have great string definition. The guitar has a very useful middle position with both jangle and punch. The bridge position is a thing of wonder. It is “Tele-like” in nature but once again with a fuller tone, that is filled with harmonic information. You get beautiful and organic chime and snap in all positions.
This guitar is a real winner.  Anyone who sees the beauty in what Matt does with his original hardware mixed with modern design appointments and esthetics; will truly fall in love and have a long happy musical life playing this fine instrument.
